Surrealism

Instead of creating a dark and satanic image like most, I created a vibrant and joyful image. When I was first assigned this project my first thought was to retrieve a fascinating sky with simple terrestrial. I found the current background and instantly loved it. The intensity of the sky, the simple field, and the little hot air balloon fitted my desire perfectly. I altered the background image by brightening it. I then found a picture of a cracked egg and added a clock on top. I faded the clock and warped it to make it look as though the yolk was actually a clock. I then retrieved a simple lamp post and warped it with the Wave affect. This added a very mysterious aspect towards the final creation. At this point, I had met all the requirements, however; I remained to be unsatisfied. I needed a "BAM" factor. My next goal was to create a magical and enchanted image environment and instantly thought of Alice In Wonderland. I then found the cat from the story and questioned on where it would fit best. The idea then hit me; on top of the hot air balloon! As you can see, I added a faded clock on top of the balloon. Lastly, I added a red cyclone shooting from the egg to symbolize that things aren't always what they seem. The fading clocks represent the fact that, even though it is there, time isn't visible at times and most take it for granted, not understanding it's importance. On the face of the woman, her nose and eyelashes seem to be fading into the distance of surrealism which symbolizes the quote "What Is Reality?"

  1. Yes you work has a very different feel from the rest of the class. It is great to have your own style. You did indeed meet all the requirements. The only real weakness is the use of the obviously copyright protected cat from Alice. As soon as you introduce a recognizable character like that it distracts from the rest of the image. A generic cat would be a better choice and of course if this was commercial work you would need to avoid copyright prot4ected images.
