For my first image, I planned to create simple yet powerful artwork. I began with a dark background (like most of my other images). I then found the Rose design in the paintbrush tool. I chose to make the flower white because the dark background in addition to the bright object creates dominant contrast. I then enlarged it to it's biggest point without pixelation. At that point, I knew I needed to add something else. So I then chose to look through the Filter Gallery. I used the Plastic Wrap effect under the Artistic file.

This rose being drowned by the plastic symbolizes the fact that many beautiful things are suffocated by society, much like the destruction of ecosystems. The homes for millions of organisms have been brutally destructed for our own needs. We take for granted the importance of different life forms and we must give the life back into what we've almost completely destroyed.

  1. Very effective texture. I would be interested to see how it would look with colour added, or cropped so it is not so centered. It was a good starting point and I'm glad you went on to try some concepts that demanded more of you.
